Accessing newspaper text
There are multiple ways of accessing the collection's texts from any area of the website. The first and most direct method of access from the collection's main webpage is shown below in Fig. 5:

The browse pages can also be accessed from any of the search screens by selecting the browse tab in the navigation bar pictured in Fig. 6:

The browse pages allow access to the page images of the newspaper, and also to text-only representations of the newspapers' full text.

The full text of the newspaper is also accessible as page images or text when performing searches of the full text or specific regions of the text. To access the page images through the search process, select one of the table of contents links pictured in Fig. 7 (see Getting started - search results for details on navigating through results).

After accessing the table of contents, click the full text button on the right side of the text:

This button presents an HTML text representation of the full text of the newspaper for browsing. Navigation in the full text area is simple, particularly when looking for the occurrences of your search terms. Select the link at the top of the text shown in Fig. 9, and navigate to other instances of your term using the arrow links:

Located within the HTML text are links to images of the acutal newspaper pages. You can find these links (see Fig. 10 for an example) at the point in the text where a page would be turned.

Once using the pageviewer search terms will no longer be highlighted. The images presented are resized in the JPEG 2000 format. In addition, it is recommended that the back button of your browser be used to return to the HTML text of the paper when desired.
